From August 4 to 6, 2026, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the SMART-C Workshop on the London Convention and Protocol was held, organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and COCATRAM, with the support of the Dominican Republic Navy and under the auspices of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea.

The meeting brought together representatives from 16 countries and territories in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the aim of strengthening technical capacities and regional cooperation to prevent marine pollution associated with the dumping of waste.
During the workshop, key topics were addressed, such as the implementation of the London Convention and Protocol, the development of a harmonized regional roadmap, and the strengthening of coordination among maritime, port, and environmental authorities, as well as naval forces.
In this context, Cocatram played a strategic role by supporting the organization and coordination of the meeting, facilitating preparatory technical meetings, enabling the participation of regional delegations, and promoting a shared vision for the implementation of the Smart-C Project.
