As part of the planning and development process for the national workshops on the Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic Convention (FAL Convention), COCATRAM convened a coordination meeting with representatives of the IMO, the Maritime Authority of Guatemala and the Global Alliance organization. The purpose of the meeting was to fine tune logistical and technical details of the activities scheduled for July in the countries of Honduras and El Salvador.

The meeting was attended by the Executive Director, Otto Noack and Eva Calderón, representing COCATRAM; Captain Hilario Sal, representing the Maritime Authority of Guatemala; Laura Escalante, from Global Alliance, and representatives of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Julián Abril and Carlos Salgado, along with consultant Marcelo Albarrán, who highlighted the relevance of these technical coordination forums for the effective implementation of the FAL Convention in the region.

The progress made at the meeting represents a significant step forward in harmonizing and applying the provisions of the FAL Convention in Central American countries.

For COCATRAM, this programmatic agenda reaffirms the commitment to promoting regional cooperation and capacity building in maritime transport facilitation.
