During the 34th General Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the Pro Tempore President of COCATRAM, Volney Guinard Estripeaut, held a meeting with the Malaysian Delegation, in accordance with the dialogue and engagement promoted among Member States during this important international forum.
Malaysia, a recognized sponsor of IMO activities, agreed to the meeting to strengthen its ties with COCATRAM and explore future collaboration opportunities.
The meeting provided an opportunity to establish direct communication with the Malaysian authorities and opened new possibilities for technical assistance and capacity-building programs in Central America.
Notably, Malaysia has previously provided technical and academic support to countries such as El Salvador and Costa Rica. These countries’ positive experiences confirm the value of these cooperation programs.
In light of the anticipated changes at the IMO, this collaboration is particularly relevant as it expands COCATRAM’s network of strategic allies and identifies potential sponsors to strengthen technical assistance initiatives for the benefit of the Central American maritime sector.
