As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regional cooperation in the maritime and port sector, the Central American Commission for Maritime Transport (COCATRAM) held a virtual working meeting with officials from the Harbormasters Command of the Dominican Republic Navy.

During the session, participants discussed the logistical and organizational aspects of a work agenda centered on three key milestones. First, they coordinated the Official Visit of COCATRAM’s Pro Tempore President and Executive Director to the Dominican Republic, scheduled for July 15–18. The visit will include meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX), the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), and the Dominican Republic Navy (ARD).

The meeting also reviewed the participation of the Dominican Republic Navy in the Seminar for Maritime Authorities of Latin America, organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which will take place in Guatemala from July 27 to 29.

Finally, participants made progress in planning the SMART LP/LC Workshop, to be held in the Dominican Republic from August 2 to 5. Discussions covered topics including participant nominations, the role of the host country, interagency coordination, transportation logistics, and complementary activities, among other matters.
