The First Meeting of Latin American Maritime Authorities (DAMLa) began today in Guatemala City. This event brings together directors and heads of the region’s maritime administrations to strengthen coordination, promote the harmonized implementation of IMO instruments, and advance more effective maritime governance.
Over the course of three days, participating authorities will share experiences, identify common challenges, and strengthen regional collaboration to advance shared maritime priorities. The meeting also includes a workshop focused on inclusive leadership, gender equality, institutional culture, and capacity building for maritime administrations.
The meeting is taking place from July 27 to 29 at the Convention Center of the Guatemalan Ministry of National Defense and is organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), with joint support from COCATRAM and the Guatemalan Ministry of National Defense, as the host country.
