On October 27, the Executive Directorate of COCATRAM participated in the opening ceremony of the Regional Workshop for the Advanced Training of Port State Control Officers (OSERP).
Taking place in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, the event is part of the Integrated Technical Cooperation Program (PICT) and takes place under the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Central American Maritime Transport Commission (COCATRAM). The Honduran Merchant Marine Directorate is hosting the event with instructors from the Argentine Maritime Authority and support from the Malaysian government.

The workshop aims to strengthen the technical capacity of Port State Control officials while promoting the inclusion and professional development of women in the maritime sector. Representatives from the thirteen member countries of the Viña del Mar Agreement are participating and sharing experiences and best practices for effectively implementing IMO international instruments.
This training and capacity-building effort reaffirms COCATRAM’s commitment to strengthening technical capacity and regional cooperation by jointly implementing activities with the IMO under the current memorandum of understanding (MOU). These efforts contribute to consolidating technical cooperation between member states and international organizations in the maritime sector.
