As the host country, the Honduran Merchant Marine Directorate successfully coordinated a technical visit to the Central American Port Operator (OPC) as part of the Port State Control Practical Exercise. The exercise is an integral part of the Regional Workshop for the Advanced Training of Port State Supervisory Officials (OSERP) and aims to strengthen the technical and operational skills of the personnel responsible for inspecting ships arriving at regional ports.

During the October 28 visit, practical inspection exercises were carried out on board container ships, applying international procedures and standards.

Participants were divided into two groups and carried out Port State Control inspections on two docked container ships under the direction of Instructor Prefect Bruno Scetta (SLOR) and coordinators from the Secretariat of the Viña del Mar Agreement: Subprefect Florencia Otero and Second Assistant Germán Santiago Repiso. They provided technical guidance and supervised the correct application of the established inspection procedures.

The workshop, which is being held in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, from October 27 to 31, is a technical training opportunity aimed at strengthening national capacities in maritime safety, marine environment protection, and compliance with international conventions, contributing to the comprehensive development of personnel responsible for port supervision and control.
