1. LOCATION: At the head of Bahia de Buenaventura on the west coast, 80 km. NW of Cali and 340 km. WSW of Bogota.
2. OVERVIEW: A naturally sheltered port, handles bulk cargoes, break bulk and containers. There are also many berths handling small local fishing boats and passenger ferries.
3. MAXIMUM SIZE:
Channel: Draft 13.8 m. (HW).
Break bulk: Draft 14.0 m. (LW).
Containers: Draft 14.0 m. (LW).
Bulk: 80,000 d.w.t., draft 14.0 m. (LW).

4. TRAFFIC: Handles containers, break bulk, dry and liquid bulk cargoes.
5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory for all vessels exceeding 500 g.t.
6. TUGS: Normally only required for berthing; pilot will handle tug coordination. Tugs are usually not secured and used to push only but, if required to pull, vessel must supply lines.
