1. LOCATION: On the SW shore of the Gulf of Mexico in Veracruz State, 320 km. east of Mexico City.

2. OVERVIEW: Port comprises two port areas, the New and Old. The New Port, a deep water port, is in the middle of construction and handles bulk grains, containers and liquid bulk. On completion the New Port will also have a multipurpose terminal and be one of Mexico's main hub ports.

3. MAXIMUM SIZE:

Old Port:  Break bulk:  Depth 10.6 m.

Ro-Ro:  Depth 11.0 m.

Bulk:  Depth 10.9 m.

Tankers:  Depth 11.0 m.

New Port:  Break bulk:  Depth 15.0 m.

Containers:  Depth 15.0 m.

Bulk:  Depth 15.0 m.

Tankers:  Depth 15.0 m.

4. TRAFFIC: Cargo includes break bulk, bulk, containers, liquid bulk and Ro-Ro.

5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory for vessels of 500 g.t. and over, available throughout 24 hours. Vessels LOA 165 m. or more manoeuvring in vicinity of piers No. 6 or 7 and LOA 175 m. or more in the vicinity of Pier No. 2, a second pilot will be required. All vessels LOA 190 m. or more a second pilot is required and LOA 260 m. or more a third pilot is required.

In the Old Port, vessels should preferably not overhang the end of the pier.

6. TUGS:  Compulsory for vessels 2,500 g.t and above, vessels carrying hazardous or dangerous products except bunker barges with their own tug. Can also be provided for smaller vessels on request. Tugs up to 4,200 h.p. stationed at the port.

Vessels 2,500– 30,000 g.t. need 2 tugs of 52 tonnes BP, at least one of which is azimuth type.

Vessels > 30,000 g.t. need 2–3 tugs of 50 tonnes BP, max. one conventional.

8. CRANES: Private services fully equipped

9. WASTE DISPOSAL: Vessels are required to use daily garbage collection service. Several companies available. Contact Agent for details.

10. SLOPS DISPOSAL:  Not available.

11. WATER: Available only by barge at any pier. Order through Agents at least 24 hours in advance (Monday to Friday)

12. FUEL: Supply of lube oil, bunkers, diesel, IFA and MGO. Via tank truck or barge.

13. CHANDLERY: Not available.
