1. LOCATION: On the south coast of the Samana Peninsula, on the coast of Samana Bay, 100 km. NE of Santo Domingo.

2.      2. OVERVIEW: Sometimes known by other names, including Puerto Duarte, El Botado and occasionally Arroyo Barril. Port comprises an anchorage for large cruise vessels, several jetties for small craft and cruise tenders, and a finger pier handling large vessels, 7 n.m. to the west of the town.

3.      3. MAXIMUM SIZE:

Depth 9.4 m.

Passengers:  Depth 11.5 m.

4.      4. TRAFFIC: Cruise ships and containers.

     5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory and available 24 hours. Vessels should sent ETA and Pilot request through Agent. Pilots board in position 19° 10.2′ N, 069° 15.5′ W.

6.      6. TUGS: None available locally. Tugs must come from Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo, if required.

7.    7. BERTHS: Finger pier located 7 n.m. to the west of the town, originally built to serve cruise vessels but more often used by general cargo and container vessels. Access ramp, length 300 m., width 13.5 m., connects pier to the shore.
