1. LOCATION: Approximately 195 n.m. from the open sea, on the right heading downriver at Mile 195.

2. OVERVIEW: Terminal handling bulk ore, steel products and general cargo. Quay fronts onto the Orinoco River.

3. MAXIMUM SIZE: 39,000 d.w.t., LOA 182.9 m., beam 22.55 m. Loading draft depends on state of river water level. During HW water periods, max. draft 12.50 m. and at LW level 8.53 m. Distance between rail and hatch combing 7.01 m.

Largest Vessel:  LOA 224.5 m.

4. TRAFFIC: Handles containers general and bulk cargoes.

5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory.

6. TUGS: 1×1,600 h.p. tug required for vessels 2,000 g.t. and over for berthing/unberthing. Large vessels will require two tugs for berthing/unberthing.

7. BERTHS:

Reinforced concrete structure consisting of three different sections running in a straight line, berthing face 065/245°(T). Total berth length 1,189 m. Quay working platform height 15.5 m. above MSL.

River level fluctuates from 0.6 m. above MSL at LW in the dry season (February to March) to 14.0 m. above MSL at HW in the rainy season (July to August).

The river bed drops sharply from the edge of the pier to the navigation channel where the depth reaches 30.0 m. below MSL.

Berth No. 6S is on the inside of the quay opposite Berth No. 6, depth 7.31 m. (MSL)

8. CRANES: 3×80 tonne Grove mobile cranes able to work on any part of the quay available.

Berths No. 3–4:  6×30 tonne CMI gantry/trolley.

Berths No. 5–6:  3×16 tonne Ansaldo gantry/trolley cranes.
