1. LOCATION: At the head of Bahia de Santiago de Cuba, on the SW coast of the island. Approximately 50 n.m. west of Guantanamo.

2. OVERVIEW: Santiago de Cuba, on a hillside at the head of Bahia de Santiago de Cuba, is the second-most populated and important commercial port in Cuba. It is the centre of a significant mining region; contained within a natural harbor, it is a multipurpose port for most types of medium size vessels.
