1. LOCATION: On the north coast of the island of Puerto Rico.

2. OVERVIEW: Multipurpose port. It covers three areas of San Juan harbor; Puerta de Tierra, Isla Grande and Puerto Nuevo.

3. MAXIMUM SIZE:

LOA 228 m., depth 10.66 m.

Containers:  Depth 9.4 m.

Passengers:  Depth 10.9 m.

Ro-Ro:  Depth 9.4 m.

Bulk:  Depth 10.3 m.

Tankers:  Depth 10.3 m.

4. TRAFFIC: Handles dry and liquid bulk, Ro-Ro, containers, general and cruise.

5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory for all vessels.

6. TUGS: Compulsory for berthing and unberthing vessels 8,000 tons displacement and over unless equipped with bow or side thrusters.

7. BERTHS:

With the exception of Wharf No. 15, all the piers including those in the Old San Juan waterfront (Piers No. 1–4) and the facilities located in Puerto Nuevo, on the south shore of San Juan, are Port Authority owned installations. The utilization of the berthing and other facilities by maritime operators is subject to approval by the Port Authority.

Piers No. 1–4 and the open bulkheads between them are located in the Old San Juan waterfront and Piers No. 8–10 and Wharves No. 11–14 are situated in the section known as Puerta de Tierra on the outskirts of downtown San Juan at the north margin of San Antonio Channel.

All vessels must request, and obtain well in advance before arrival, a Berthing Permit from the Port Authority.

8. CRANES: 9 panamax cranes y 2 PPX cranes

9. WASTE DISPOSAL: It is prohibited to unload, remove or discharge, or cause, suffer or permit to be unloaded, removed or discharged, from any vessel, any garbage or waste material of any kind coming from foreign countries to be discharged as domestic garbage. However, PRPA will accept the disposal of such garbage or waste material, subject to previous approval from the pertinent Regulatory Agencies, and the coordination and assurance of complying with US Coast Guard, the US Department of Agriculture and US Homeland Security Regulations. For such purposes, the vessel or Agent shall contract an independent waste disposal collector at its own cost and expense.

10. SLOPS DISPOSAL: Available through Crowley Maritime Corp.

11. WATER: Most of the piers have adequate installations to supply water.

12. FUEL: Supplied by barges either alongside the vessel at the pier or at anchor. Other combustible liquids are delivered by road tanker. Advise Agent of requirements.

13. CHANDLERY: Information not available.
