1. LOCATION: On the west side of Isla Manzanillo. Cristobal is on the eastern shore of Bahia Limon at the Atlantic entrance to the Panama Canal.

2. OVERVIEW: Cristobal is a district of the city of Colon. Port comprises a number of berths handling containerized, dry bulk and liquid cargoes. A new LNG reception facility opened in 2018. The port is under the jurisdiction of the Panama Canal Authority and is managed and operated by Hutchison Ports PPC, with concessions to several other companies. Access to and from the port is via waters under the jurisdiction of the Panama Canal Authority.

3. MAXIMUM SIZE:

Containers:  LOA 350 m., draft 13.5 m.

Bulk:  LOA 305 m., draft 11.6 m.

Tankers:  LOA 305 m., draft 11.6 m.

Gas:  180,000 cu.m., depth 10.2 m. (MLWS).

4. TRAFFIC: Port of Cristobal handles a wide variety of traffic including containers, general cargo, bulks, vehicles and passengers.

5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory; carried out by pilots of the Panama Canal Authority. Services of pilot outside breakwater are available on request.

6. TUGS:  Available to assist berthing. Contact Agent for arranging service.

8. CONTAINER FACILITIES:

Container terminal with annual capacity of 2 million TEU. Berths available for Panamax and post-Panamax vessels.

Handling equipment includes 37 RTGs, 10×4 high reachstackers, 16×7 high empty container handlers, 6×5 high top loaders, 32 forklifts, 94 chassis, 89 trucks, 722 reefer points, container freight station 5,440 sq.m., total area 143,000 sq.m. and storage for 3,300 TEU. Additional facilities include 9-lane maingate (5 in, 4 out), on-dock rail access, quarantine zone, and office space for customers and government agencies.

8. CRANES: 13 quayside gantry cranes (5 post-Panamax outreach 19 rows; 4×post-Panamax outreach 14 rows; 4×Panamax outreach 13 rows)

9. WASTE DISPOSAL: Available by barge or road tanker, dependent on berth.

10. SLOPS DISPOSAL:  Available by barge or road tanker, dependent on berth.

11. WATER: Available quayside by barge or pipeline, dependent on berth.

12. FUEL: Bunker C, light diesel, fuel oil and marine diesel available by barge or pipeline, dependent on berth.
