1. LOCATION: In the sheltered Bahia de Amatique, on the Caribbean coast of Guatemala. Harbor district of Santo Tomas de Castilla is a municipality of Puerto Barrios in the department of Izabal.
2. OVERVIEW: The most important seaport of Guatemala, handling 85% of maritime trade. Cargoes include containers, solid and liquid bulk, Ro-Ro, conventional, general cargo and cruise traffic.
3. MAXIMUM SIZE: LOA 229 m., draft 9.14 m.
4. TRAFFIC: Handling containers, solid and liquid bulks, ro-ro and general cargo and cruise ships.
5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory for all vessels over 500 g.t. arriving, leaving and manoeuvring within the port limits; available daylight hours to 2100 hrs. (LT).
6. TUGS: Compulsory usage of at least one tug for any type of manoeuvre. Depending on the size, structure, location where the manoeuvre is being executed, and the state of the weather, the Pilot will decide upon the use of a second tug. One tug available, 3,600 h.p.

8. CONTAINER FACILITIES: 14×35 ton straddle carriers, 3×7 ton container handlers (for empty containers), 1×35 ton container handler, 1×45 ton reachstacker, 12 yard tractors, 97,200 sq.m. container yard and 11,558 sq.m. storage for reefer containers, capacity 1,408 TEU.
9. CRANES: 3×104 ton Liebherr LHM320V mobile cranes. Max. capacity under automatic spreader 30.5 tons (33 m. radius). Service provided by private operator.

12. WATER: Pipelines alongside quay. Delivered by hoses belonging to port.
13. FUEL: Fuel oil, kerosene, diesel and gas oil available by lorry without notice. Commonly used lubricating oils are available in small quantities.
