1. LOCATION: On the NE coast of New Province Island. Approximately 155 n.m. EAST of Miami, USA.

2. OVERVIEW: The capital, largest city, and commercial centre of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Nassau is on a protected inlet. Commercial port facilities, apart from cruise, are being progressively moved to a new port facility at Arawak Cay; the former port areas around Bay Street are being redeveloped for leisure and residential.

4. TRAFFIC: Port handles cruise, containers and break bulk.

5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory for all vessels.

6. TUGS: Three tugs: Amberjack, Turbot and Snapper (2,180–4,620 h.p.). Tugs normally join vessel at entrance to turning basin. Customary for vessels to provide line.
