1. LOCATION: 15°44’3”N, 88°36’21”W. On Caribbean seaboard, at Amatique Bay, 295 km by road and 320 km by rail from Guatemala City. Port is 40 hours’ sailing time from Port of Miami and four hours from Puerto Cortés.
2. OVERVIEW: Multipurpose port. Once Guatemala's main Caribbean port, it remains an important hub for the export of fresh fruit.
3. MAXIMUM SIZE: Draft 9.5 m.
4. TRAFFIC: Loading and discharging of containerized and general cargo, liquid and solid bulks
5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory. Pilot boards 1.7 n.m. off Puerto Barrios, from small unmarked launch.
6. TUGS: Compulsory. Port owns three tugs.
7. BERTHS: One pier with berthing either side. Seven berths in total, handle bananas, grain, fertilizers and oil.

8. CONTAINER FACILITIES: Containers discharged/loaded using ship's gear.
Port has storage areas for full and empty containers, refrigerated and dry, as well as storage areas for vehicles.
9. CRANES: No cranes available on pier. Pier operated by Compania Bananera Independiente. Four banana loading conveyors.

12. WATER: Available at the pier. Advise Agent of requirements before arrival.
13. FUEL: Available by road tanker.
