1. LOCATION: On the north coast, 40 km. north of Santiago de los Caballeros. Amber Cove is situated in Bahia de Maimon, approximately 6 n.m. west of Puerto Plata.
2. OVERVIEW: Puerto Plata (San Felipe de Puerto Plata) is the main north coast port and the second busiest port in the Dominican Republic in terms of cargo handled.

4. TRAFFIC: Port handles fuel oil, dry bulk, containers, break bulk and passengers. A dedicated cruise terminal is located at Amber Cove, west of Puerto Plata.
5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory and available daylight hours only.
6. TUGS: Compulsory for vessels over 500 g.t. A Dominican Republic Navy tug (800 h.p.) is stationed at the port.
