PORT: Limon (Hernan Garron Salazar Terminal)

1. LOCATION: On the Caribbean coast in Limon province. Approximately 35 n.m. from the border with Panama. Its geographical coordinates are 9º59’N, 83º01’W.

2. OVERVIEW: Dry cargo port, handles Ro-Ro and cruise vessels.

Cruise ship terminal: 310 meters in length with 10.5 meters draft. Two loading docks, including Ro-Ro. 

Muelle Aleman: 460 meters in length and 130 meters in width with a draft of 10.0 meters. Two loading docks, one for general cargo and one for ro-ro. There is 7.5 hectares of storage with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes and 80 reefer plugs. 

3. MAXIMUM SIZE:

Passengers:  LOA 250 m., draft 10.5 m.

Ro-Ro:  Draft 9.5 m.

Bulk:  LOA 250 m., draft 10.5 m.

4. TRAFFIC: Bulk cargoes, cruise vessels and Ro-Ro.

5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory and available throughout 24 hours. Pilots board in position 09° 59.1′ N, 083° 00.4′ W. (approximately 1 n.m. from the berths). Vessels should provide an accurate ETA to Agent, who will then order pilot at least 24 hours before arrival.

6. TUGS:  2×850 h.p. tugs, compulsory for berthing and unberthing.

8. CRANES: Two cranes of 15 and 20 tonnes capacity at Puerto Limon.  Mobile cranes are available, contact Agent.

9. WASTE DISPOSAL: Garbage and sludge removal services are available, contact Agent.

10. SLOPS DISPOSAL:  Not available.

11. WATER: Available and obtained alongside pier delivered by hose, 1.5 to 2 t.p.h. cost USD4.0/ton.

12. FUEL: Diesel and heavy oils available. Any quantity can be obtained as there is a refinery/storage terminal close to Limon.

13. CHANDLERY: Not available.
