1. LOCATION: Main harbor is on the SW corner of the island, between Carlisle and Freshwater bays. Outer port comprises liquid bulk facilities to the north and south of Bridgetown.

2. OVERVIEW: Port handles dry and liquid bulk, containers and break bulk cargoes, Bridgetown is also a regional cruise hub.

3. MAXIMUM SIZE:

Break bulk:  Depth 11.0 m.

Containers:  Depth 11.0 m.

Passengers:  Depth 11.5 m.

Bulk:  Depth 9.75 m.

Tankers:  LOA 244 m., draft 11.6 m.

4. TRAFFIC: Containers and break bulk and cruise ships.

5. PILOTAGE: Compulsory except for military vessels and small leisure craft.

6. TUGS: Two tugs are stationed at the port; ``Barbados'' of 1,700 h.p. and ``Pelican II'' of 4,600 h.p. Vessels exceeding 20,000 n.t. are assisted by two tugs, vessels exceeding 10,000 n.t. and/or LOA 167.64 m. are assisted by one tug. The use of tugs for smaller vessels is optional if bow thruster is serviceable.

8. CRANES:
 3×60 tonne gantry crane, 1×35 tonne mobile crane.

9. WASTE DISPOSAL: Garbage disposal bins of capacity 1.5 cu.m. and 6.0 cu.m. are available for receiving general ship waste; galley and engine room waste must be disposed of separately. Sewage reception facilities available with notice.

10. SLOPS DISPOSAL:  Tank trucks of capacity 23.84 cu.m. (6,300 US gallons) available with notice for handling oily waste. Hoses require 3 in. connection.

11. WATER: Available. Loading rate 20 cu.m./hr. per hose. Each berth has a loading point.

12. FUEL: Bunkers and lube oil available, service provided by Sol Petroleum. Contact Agent for further information.

13. CHANDLERY: Barbados Port Authority operates two tugs and one heavy-duty launch which may be used when requested by Agents for transporting stores and crews to vessels at anchor.
